Supersonic Investment Seminar
Thrust leader headlines latest ABCO Pensions and investment seminar in Norwich.

Richard Noble, who set the World Land Speed Record in Thrust 2 in 1983, then headed the Thrust SSC (supersonic car) project in the 90s, was today the headline speaker at the 2004 ABCO Investment and Pension Planning Opportunities roadshow.

The roadshow took off at the Top of the Terrace room in Norwich City FC’s Carrow Road Stadium. It featured a number of leading industry figures discussing the Government’s proposed Pensions Green Paper and investment strategies, to an audience of over 140 invited guests.

Other speakers were Robert Stephens, a global investment specialist with Invesco Perpetual, Giselle Black, investment strategist with Pioneer Investments, and Peter Carter, National Sales Manager of Canada Life. They looked at a range of topics, including bull, bear or hippo stockmarkets, alternative investments including hedge funds, and pension planning.’

The audience were then captivated by Richard Noble’s account of the Thrust Supersonic Car. A tale of gritty British derring-do, nonetheless he paid suitable attention to the finances, which, as he said, ‘will make your eyes blink’. Himself a private client of ABCO, Richard had flown to Norwich from Farnborough in his Piper Arrow aircraft, a trip taking just over an hour. As he dryly observed, at 160mph the plane was somewhat slower than Thrust 2’s 650mph, let alone the supersonic speed of Thrust SSC!
