Why do I need School Governors Insurance?

Should Governors act outside the advice of the LEA or not comply with Governor Law in any aspect no protection would be available.

This new School Governors Liability Insurance scheme gives peace of mind for governors when carrying out their duties in the best interests of the school.

In today’s litigious society, when things go wrong there is always someone else to blame. If something serious at the school was to happen the actions taken or not taken by the Governors may be called into question.

Governors are expected to perform their roles with care, skill and in good faith. But training is not compulsory and there are no set rules on the definition of Good Faith. As a new governor would you have the skills and would you be aware of the intricate laws which governors need to adhere to?

Crisis containment costs covered under our scheme are so important for the school which most schools have not even considered. So how would your schools respond to the local press if allegations of a serious nature were made public? How would the Governing Board act – would anyone on the Governing Board / School know how to professionally respond to the press to ensure that the schools reputation was not damaged beyond repair?

The cost of our School Governors Insurance scheme is so affordable even in times when budgets are being slashed by County Councils trying to breach their own deficits – with the complexities of Governor Law can your Governing Body really afford to be without cover for the sake of a few hundred pounds?
