Over £15k raised for Macmillan Cancer Support
CEO Alan Boswell and six directors from the Alan Boswell Group (ABG) have returned victorious from a daring charity bobsleigh challenge* in Austria – smashing their 10k fund-raising target.
'Team Boz', headed up by ABG CEO Alan Boswell and six directors from across Suffolk and Norfolk, hurtled down a track, 2500ft up a mountain side, in sleds at speeds of more than 80mph to raise funds for their staff charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. The best time of 59 seconds was achieved by Attleborough director Andy Dowler and the team raised £13,358.
Helen Chapman, area fundraiser for Macmillan, is thrilled with the amount raised. She added: "Alan Boswell Group were one of the highest achieving local corporate fundraisers for us in 2011. The Bobsleigh Challenge was something totally different and is a great example of what can be achieved in Norfolk with inventiveness and team spirit!"
Anglia TV studios kindly loaned a video camera to the team, for free, so they could share the evidence of their runs with supporters. Local company The Production Bureau also provided their editing services for a special charitable rate.
The resulting film of the bobsleigh challenge was enjoyed by Alan Boswell Group employees, the business has 200 staff based across five locations, including Bury St Edmunds, at their recent annual staff party.
Staff raised an additional £2k for Macmillan Cancer Support through dress down days and cake sales so the total raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by Alan Boswell Group in 2011 has surpassed £15k. Donations can still be made via www.sponsor-me.org/teamboz
The staff are now busy gearing up for another charitable year as they select their charity for 2012.
