Matty's 'pat on the back' bat
Alan Boswell Group Sponsorship Helps Young Cricketer's Prospects.
In March 2003 Matty Spenceley and Tom Adeyemi, who play for Horsford Cricket Club, won the Alan Boswell Group young player development bursary. As a result both boys spent time at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, working on their skills with top cricket coaches. Now, as a result of his good work, Northamptonshire has invited Matty to attend the Northants School of Cricket Excellence (Tom is too young this year).
In recognition of his achievement, the Alan Boswell Group decided to present Matty with a special cricket bat, hand made by Warsop-Stebbing.
"The call-up gives Matty the chance to work on his game alongside some of the most talented youngsters in the UK," says Matty's dad, Mike Spenceley. "It's a wonderful opportunity for him."
Any young girls or boys playing for Horsford can apply for the 2004 bursary, which pays for training or equipment to help individual players progress.
The bursary is the brainchild of Alan Boswell, Managing Director of the insurance and financial services group and a long-time supporter of Horsford Cricket Club. "This is a great achievement for Matty," he says. "It's all down to his hard work and talent. We're delighted to give him a 'pat on the back, Mat' bat!"
