Alan Boswell Group Charitable Trust Autumn 2025 Update
Alan Boswell Group

The Alan Boswell Group Charitable Trust continues to deliver on its commitment to make a difference to charitable causes in the areas that we operate in. We wanted to provide an update on the difference our donations are making to some of the charities.
In the last quarter, the Trust reviewed 67 applications and awarded over £147,000 in grants.
Here are some of the grants that were made:
Look Good, Feel Better

Look Good, Feel Better deliver cancer support services in local communities. £9,910 was donated to fund their confidence-boosting workshops across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Norfolk, helping people manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment.
Reflex Theatre

Reflex Theatre creates theatre and educational experiences for a range of people in East Anglia - local emerging artists, young people, neurodivergent individuals, low income families. Our grant of £5,000 will help fund their intergenerational theatre project, connecting older people with younger people, specifically focussing on loneliness and mental health.
Wintercomfort for the Homeless

Wintercomfort for the Homeless, based in Cambridge, have a dedicated support centre for homeless and vulnerable housed adults. Out grant of £15,000 will help fund their new women's only service.
Making Space

Making Space look after the carers of people with mental health difficulties; offering breaks from the challenging day-to-day they face. £3,000 will go towards their 'Breaks Project', funding activities like theatre trips, coffee catch-ups and keep fit sessions.
Steel Bones

Steel Bones support amputees and individuals with limb loss/difference. Our donation of £5,000 will help fund the delivery of their free and inclusive weekly weekly fitness clubs which are vital for the physical and mental wellbeing of those affected.
MS Therapy Centre Norfolk Ltd
£2,300 to fund the refurbishment of their accessible toilet.
Sew Positive
£4,500 to help fund their basic sewing and creative courses across Cambridge.
The Racing Centre
£5,000 to increase the support sessions they offer on debt advice, employment advice, and their food bank provision.
Huntingdon Community Action Projects
£3,000 to fund Christmas hampers for a local hostel.
We also received some fantastic feedback from charities that have received donations from the Trust in the past:
Mike Thurston Water Activities Centre
£10,000 donated in March 2025 to Mike Thurston Water Activities Centre for the installation of a new accessible changing facility.
“The grant has provided half the funds required to complete our project. This season we have succeeded in raising over £20,000 to date. This has allowed us to order the prefabricated facility, with delivery in November. This will put us well on target to have the improved facilities available for our 2026 visitors.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support, such a great boost to our fundraising early in the process motivated the further fundraising efforts.”
Papillon Project
£5,000 donated to Papillon Project in January 2025
Last month Trustees Alastair Drew and Alex Bartrum, and staff member Gillian Anderson Brown visited City Academy Norwich (CAN) to see the work Papillon Project had achieved with our grant.
Alastair said the following about the visit:
"At CAN, there is an extensive allotment where children can go during breaks. Children can use the space where they are allocated their own space and encouraged to grow plants, fruits or vegetables. Or the space can be used to relax in. Teachers will occasionally use the space (an example being that the biology class looked at leaf structures earlier in the week). Other community groups will use the space outside of school times.
“Papillon have 21 schools where the project to have an allotment is underway. They hope to continue to increase over time.
“We could clearly see the benefit of having such a space and giving the kids something else to do in break times. The allotments only use recycled materials for the beds and this is important to the kids."
