Alan Boswell Group Charitable Trust Winter 2025 Update
Alan Boswell Group
The Alan Boswell Group Charitable Trust continues to deliver on its commitment to make a difference to charitable causes in the areas that we operate in. We wanted to provide an update on the difference our donations are making to some of the charities.
In the last quarter, the Trust reviewed 129 applications and awarded over £129,000 in grants.
Here are some of the grants that were made:
Happy Days Children’s Charity
Happy Days Children's Charity received £5,000 to help fund respite holidays and day trips for children in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Lincolnshire with special needs that are further disadvantaged by living in poor social-economic conditions.
Ormiston Families
Ormiston Families were giving a grant of £5,000 to support their 'Breaking Barriers' project supporting children and young people in Norfolk who have a parent or close relative in prison.
Age UK Norfolk
A £10,000 grant was awarded to Age UK Norfolk to support their 'Tide Turners' project providing a range of services including community outreach coffee mornings, money MOT, and digital inclusion sessions to people in Great Yarmouth to help improve financial wellbeing and promote independence.
CamSight
CamSight supports around 2,000 people in Cambridgeshire living with blindness or low vision with a range of services including emotional support, signposting, and sports and leisure activities. The Trust provided a grant of £10,000 to support 600 people over 12 months with their support and advice service which provides free one-to-one support to people living with sight loss.
Trigeminal Neuralgia Association
Trigeminal Neuralgia Association support people in the UK living with trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve, causing sudden, severe, shock-like facial pain. Out grant of £9,240 will fund the creation of a new therapeutic garden at their base in Norwich. People with TN often experience sudden and severe flare-ups followed by quieter periods. Their ability to take part in activities and travel cannot always be predicted in advance. The new garden will create a welcoming and flexible environment where participants can join when they fell able to.
Lincolnshire Rural Support Network
£1,500 to support their outreach programme for younger members of the farming community, with a specific focus on suicide prevention.
Peterborough Elderly Shoebox Appeal
£500 to fund Christmas shoeboxes for the elderly who will be spending Christmas alone.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare
£5,498.50 for a new air flow mattress and pump to be used in their inpatient unit for end of life patients.
Suffolk Mind
£4,176 for their new anxiety management courses for parents of children affected by emotionally based school avoidance.
Boston Indoor Bowls Club
£3,250 to fund a new specialist bowls wheelchair to allow those with mobility issues to take part.
We also received some fantastic feedback from charities that have received donations from the Trust in the past:
Huntingdon Community Action Projects (HCAP)
£3,000 donated in October 2025 to fund 100 Christmas hampers for vulnerable families living in Huntingdon.
“The 100 hampers were delivered or collected on Friday 12th December. We received some amazing feedback as all those referred are struggling because of the cost of living crisis, a number said they weren't sure what the would have to spend on food for Christmas, let alone on presents.”
Variety, the Children’s Charity
£15,000 donated to Variety in January 2025 to fund a new Sunshine Coach for Sidestrand Hall School, a special needs school in Norfolk for children and young people aged 7-19.
In October, Trustee Alastair Drew and ABG staff member Gavin Dearsley attended the grand unveiling of the new Sunshine Coach. The new 14-seater minibus will support over 190 pupils to enjoy practical outdoor learning, sports and recreational activities.
