What is student contents top-up insurance?

If your college or university already provides basic contents insurance, top-up insurance allows you to increase the level of cover if your belongings are worth more than the amount provided.

How much cover should I select?

Tell us the total value of your belongings, not just the extra amount of cover you need. We'll take the cover already provided by your college or university into account when calculating your top-up. For example, if your laptop is worth £1,200 and you already have £500 laptop cover, enter £1,200, not £700.

Do I have to purchase top-up insurance?

No, there is no legal requirement to do so.

Am I covered for legal expenses?

No, but cover is available via our top-up option.

What are defined as personal belongings/possessions?

Anything you take with you when you leave the house on a day-to-day basis or if you are away for an extended period of time. This includes clothing, footwear, mobile phones, laptops, tablets, sunglasses, jewellery, watches etc.
